Advocacy is a daily activity. It’s how we behave toward parents, students, and colleagues. It’s putting learning — not the library, not the stuff, not us — first. It’s putting that teaching certificate training to work, not just the MLIS.
Advocacy is hard. It means keeping impatience and frustration at check, two things I struggle with constantly. It means living out the Chumbawumba tune: “I get knocked down, but I get up again.”
Advocacy is action. It’s what we do, not what we profess, not what we say believe.
